    some questions from a beginer

ok, i understand that this forum must see this question more then a few times a month, however, at the risk of being repetative i have to ask.

where can i learn DirectX, OpenGL, basically how to make games. rendering 3d images, what languages, what tools, etc. do places offer classes? do i have to teach myself. will companies teach me someof these things?

college does a great job teaching things commonly used. but i dont know where to learn so many things that companies look for when they are hiring.

SQL, Oracle, how to work with other apps. where do programmers learn all of this?

I wouldn't try to learn all of it. DirectX alone will keep you occupied for quite some time. C++ is probably the language to learn if you want to do graphics programming. Check out the following links:

http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/default.asp (check out the "Graphics and Multimedia" section out for graphics programming)

    http://www.directx4vb.com/

    http://msdn.microsoft.com/downloads/...xml&frame=true (directx software dev kit)

    http://www.gamedev.net/ (for general game development)

All I can think of at the moment. I'm sure others know alot more.
