Clean install of Win2000 over WinXP
I just got a notebook with WinXP Home on it. My intention has been to put Win2000 Pro on it so I booted from the CD (2000 CD) deleted the partition that XP was sitting on and deleted an Unknown partition of about 31 MB. Then created a brand new one (NTFS) and went along with the install. On re-boot now, it gives me the option of booting into 2000 or XP which I don't really want.
Any suggestions as to what's best to do to get rid of this?
Thanks in advance.

try this:
boot from floppy (get a disc from www.bootdisk.com if you dont have one)
fdisk - delete partitions, create new one
format the partition
boot from W2K CD and install
if you dont want to reformat you could get rid of the extra boot option by editing the mbr. However, the other ops system would still be lingering ... If you want to do this, look a few threads down for a post I made with subject mbr in which Mr Polite helped me with a simlar problem.

Thanks.
I also got the suggestion from somebody else of taking out the XP entry from the boot.ini file which I have a feeling would do the trick because when I had chosen XP as the OS to boot with it didn't know what the hell to do.
Thanks again.
