Don't have the internal speaker connected. Couldn't you've used the sound card to produce the sound?

This song could just be played by pc speaker, if your sound card could emulate the speaker, have a try!:D

I thought the internal speaker was a function of the main board, not the sound card. Sooo.... am I right in thinking that 'PC Speaker' is mearly a port on the sound card, like 'CD Audio' of which the internal speaker needs to be connected?

Hmmm, maybe that's right, I have seen a software called "Virtual Pc", It can emulate a computer, so as the speaker.
I now working on vb platform, it can't let the speaker sound as qb dose, the "play" statement has disappeared.
Hmmm, the pc speaker music is too old, isn't it?:)
