Does anyone know where I can get a good FREE web forum application to install on my own web server ??

Go to http://www.perl.com and look at the bottom of the page for resources. There is an extensive list of pointers to resources there.

I think you can use something called Ultimate.cgi. It is a pretty good forum used by a number of big sites including devshed.com. it doesn't have features like ICQ and all that like this forum does but it is free.

But I'd built a forum using PHP for myself and it's not hard at all.
