Phoenix 0.2
They're working on a smaller, faster cousin to the Mozilla web browser. It seems decent so far.

Get these: Mozilla Opera OpenBSD
I have books for sale: "MCSD in a Nutshell" and "VB Distributed Exam Cram" - PM me for details. Will also trade for a decent ATX Pentium 2 MB/CPU/RAM combo.

Yeah I downloaded Phoenix about a week ago. It is really nice being smaller and quicker and all, but I have noticed a couple of little bugs like some web pages don't seem to load, and it hangs when Java is active. But hopefully it will all be sorted soon

Java sucks anyway.

I'm using Phoenix 0.2 right now. What's nice is you don't need to run an installer - just download a zip file, extract it to a folder, then just run it.
It's missing the DOM/CSS inspector and Javascript developer so Mozilla is still better for web development.

Yeah I agree (in someways ) but I use it for a chat applet on my site, so I want it still.

And also I noticed it's missing the site navigation bar thing when you add something like <link rel="next" href="page.htm"> in the head. Nothing much but it's something they should add in.

Isn't it just another browser around the Gecko renderer?

Exactly - but Mozilla is a suite, this is much less.

And it makes it quicker and light to use, so if you don't need the e-mail, chat and the other stuff, but want a great browser then Phoenix is great.

I have KMail for email, X-Chat for IRC, and I only use Mozilla for browsing the web, so I might give it a shot.

I never tried Emacs for web browsing.
Uh oh, Emacs reference. Bye bye thread
I've been making an attempt to learn Emacs, but I've been a bit busy lately, so I'm more interested in getting on with it, rather than learning how to do it *faster* for the future.

Dunno, it isn't like an application with some good features when you need them is anything to worry about today. I love it when these hypocrites with decked out Athlons or P4s with 1GB of RAM start talking about bloatware, LOL.
I use IE and only IE but if I had to use a Moz-based product I'd take the real thing. It's got the features tehre if I need them.

M-x term RET.
=).
In fact, emacs formats lynx's output better then my Win2k command prompt does... so If I run lynx from emacs, I can actually read stuff =).

According to your analogy, Justin, if you had files that were completely useless you'd let down your defense against virus? Heh, I'm not trying to flame, but just because you CAN handle more doesn't necessarily mean you should want to.

I already have an AV program, I update it every day or two...to me, it is not worth sacrificing not only proper page rendering, but embedded features, just to be ultra-safe.
It's not like you even need a fast computer to run IE or Moz. It runs fine on pretty much every computer in my house and most of them are well below 1GHz.
Of course you can't get infected with viruses in Lynx, you can't do anything!! I suppose I should run DOS because it doesn't crash at all?

Dont have an AV program, havent had a virus in years... =).
And mozilla's page rendering is just as good as IE's (surprised me, I was expecting crap tables).
And you should be using Win2k, as it doesnt crash. =).

I just installed this thing to be safe really, I haven't encountered one either.
I am using 2K, what made you think I was on XP?
Moz has damn good page rendering but it has its flaws. Of course IE does too, somewhere, but I just noticed more with Mozilla. Though it IS a good engine...

I stand by my original statement, that most of the problems are due to incorrect coding.
But I will admit, IE does a much better job with bad code than Mozilla does.

Just seems like everyone is on XP these days =). Forgive =).
The only real problem I have with Mozilla is that I cant use my middle mouse button to scroll....

And in a world where 75% of web pages are using sh*tty code from bad developers or *shudder* FrontPage not being miss goody two-shoes is a necessity. Sometimes you have to conform to standards but know when to bend the rules for certain pages.
Moz is a standards conformer and does quite well but if your HTML is screwed, bye bye.
Opera on the other hand doesn't render anything at all correctly

If the page is crap, why visit in the first place? =). VBF and Galah, and GD.net, and Flipcode work simply great, and the GNU pages are pretty plain, so no problems there... and that pretty much makes up my list of visited sites =).

He had XP, I told him not to use it(before he started using it), now he's using 2k.
Something about XP messing up his comp, as I said it would.

It was working good for months until IE kept crashing, so I decided I wouldn't bother to screw around with it and switched back to 2K, as XP wasn't really giving me any benefit.
I don't really think it has anything to do with you. At least I can say I've tried XP without mindlessly bashing it because it exists.
