    Question Can't uninstall Beta 2 - Why?

    Hi all,
I need to uninstall Beta 2 so I can install Visual Studio .NET Enterprise Architect However, I can’t uninstall Beta 2 (through Add/Remove Programs and select option 2 from the Form that appears) . I tried many times but with no luck. I was given the error message Set up has failed.
So, I deleted the appropriate .NET folders. Next, I tried to remove the Framework but couldn’t, and I got similar error message saying that Setup has failed.

Continuing, I ran RegClean to fix any problems. I tried in my Setup disk of .NET Enterprise and I was given a message box that reads:
Setup has detected that a previous version of Visual Studio.NET 7.0 Professional – English is currently installed. Please uninstall this application before continuing with Setup.

What should I do next, any ideas?

    Thanks for your time

Best thing you can do now is do a full format and re-install everything. Thats the best way to proceed.

    Good luck

Reformats suck, good only as last resort!

I think Microsoft might have directions on how to manually uninstall the beta framework.

He should do a format and re-install since he already deleted some of the files. That way he'll get a clean start and wont have to worry about any orphaned files been left over.

I suppose a reformat is the best thing to do, but also the most annoying.

What about System Restore? Do you have a restore point that far back?

    thanks for your replies.
Reformat is out of the question, since I have Beta 2 on my work laptop. I have too many other Public folders and stuff to back up at moment.

I will reinstall Beta 2 on Wednesday and try again to uninstall it with the uninstall option supplied for this. I have spoken to someone who has done it this way. it took him over four hours

I''l let you know if it works
