Guys I got my copy of Visual Studio .NET code name Everett today from Microsoft.
This is the Enterprise Architect version. There are 8 CDs:
  • One Copy of Visio
  • A Visual Studio .NET Prerequisites CD
  • One copy of Visual Source Safe 6.0d
  • 2 Program CDs
  • 3 MSDN Library CDs

These are the improvements according to Microsoft.

  • Highly ANSI/ISO conformant C++ compiler. Greater ANSI conformance enables you to write highly conformant C++ code and take advantage of comunity written C++ libraries.
  • C++ gets RAD. New IDE designers and wizards enable the C++ developer to easily create forms-based .NET applications.
  • Enhanced C++ floating point performance. Floating point performance is greatly enhanced with new support for P4 and SSE/SSE2. New compiler features that speed floating-point intensive processing by as much as 20%.
  • Integrated Smart Device Programmability. Everett delivers first class support for the .NET Compact Framework, enabling you to use your Visual Studio .NET skills to easily program Pocket PC's or Windows CE .NET Powered devices using Visual Basic .NET or C# .NET.
  • Integrated Wireless device programmability. Visual Studio .NET now ships with integrated support for more than 140 Internet-enabled mobile devices including Palm Pilots, RIM Blackberries, iMode Phones, WAP Phones, Pocket PC's, and More.
  • Integrated J# Programming language. Visual Studio .NET now includes Visual J# .NET, the first Java-langauge development tool to run on a platform offering native support for XML Web services, enabling an easy transition for Java language developers into the world of XML web services.
  • Full Support for .NET Framework 1.1 Visual Studio .NET fully supports version 1.0 and 1.1 of the .NET Framework. Version 1.1 of the .NET Framework incorporates much of your feedback from 1.0 and fixes numerous 1.0 issues. Version 1.1 is the first version for the framework to be included with Windows .NET Server.
  • Full backwords compatibility. We know that you have significant investments in Visual Studio .NET 2002. Everett provides full backwards compatibilty with Visual Studio .NET 2002, enabling new 'Everett applications' to safely run along side Visual Studio .NET 2002 applications - a feature referred to as 'side-by-side'. Existing Visual Studio .NET 2002 applications can be loaded into Everett and easily recompiled to take advantage of the latest .NET Framework.

I did'nt get a chance to install it. The power supply on my test machine blew out, so I'll have to install it on my laptop in the morning. I'll post some screen shots when I get a chance.
