PRGRMR
Jun 18th, 2000, 03:16 AM
I´m launching a huge project for a 3D/2D game (we will eventually start working on some program later). I´m looking for REALLY advanced/proffesiional programmers to work our way through this project. If this succeed, I can fix an investor and the money will start rolling. We also need a webmaster working with flash4. The visions to begin are many but the end has only one. Think of that for a while. But, who can afford to say no to this? yea, that´s right, NONE.

Best Regards PRGRMR

(I dont aceppt any newbies, only proffesionals.)

For one you sound like a Newbie youself, also this is more like a spam I've seen before (money rolls afterwards) more detail on the project is helpful, and more security as to contact is nice, for example seeing your email, looks definitly amature. vb_programmer_vb @ hotmail, for one its a webbased email, and secondly the username is very Spam-like, and what level of "Newbies" are you talking about there, are several professionals who enter at entry level, and are usally acceptable by most major companies, give some more solid information if you actually want some solid responses.

huh? what the****. you dont even know why i´m using a webbased email like amateur-hotmail.com. i tell you this.
I´ve had some security intrusions on my computer by some guys. I ran a traceroute and some IPblock checkup and took 'em up for court. who won? i did. after that i got some huge attack against my email and my computer. and for your information; check you this site, http://www.runez.com. Click on members in the upper menu. And look for the name,,,.."Marten Lundkvist". that´s me. and i´m making money.

Obey you master.

(this one is for you. your username is exactly the size of you harddrive.)

sheesh, but I still dont see anything solid, have you had a product release that I can even see, if its not some of the things I've seen its definitly your additued and |33t behavior that throws me off.

I'd have to join the skeptics club with KB244 (Wasn't that the name of an anti lice shampoo?)...

Anyway PRGRMR, if your serious, don't show off, give us information. Anyone can say anything about how good they are but attacking someone for being skeptical doesn't help your cause, it just makes you look like a teenager.

If you're wonderful and making money what are you doing here advertising? I make money too, so what? If you treat this place as somewhere to advertised you'll get flamed every time, be specific, what are you doing? are you a programmer? (the ability to use traceroute and go to court doesn't make you one) Do you have a project?

I'm not a child, I'm not even particularly young, and real business people I talk to don't just shoot their mouths about their money and their talents, (more like their products and their backing)

Please try again, and we'll listen with fresh ears...

Paul

Alls I have to say is with that additude the only money you must be making is with a scanner and color copier.

Jun 20th, 2000, 03:27 AM
ok I think it's time for me to step in, Look if you've not worked with him don't judge him on how he talks, he's not american, so if his grammer or something's not correct that doesn't mean he's 12 years old, I've worked with him and I know what he's capable of. If you don't want to help him, then don't just come bombarding in and suggest all kinds of bull crap. This is a place for getting people interested in a project, when someone says money don't assume they mean millions of dollars, it could be 100 bucks or 1000 bucks.... and trust me the REAL game programmers and stuff they get A LOT OF MONEY that only big companies are able to pay. So leave him alone, if u want to join him, then join him. If not, then back off.

okeydokey,

i was just skimming through the old e-mails here and i notices that kb224(or something:) said that only amatuers use hotmail. ill tell you right now, im a newbie, i suck at programming, but im pretty intent on getting better. i just wanted to know how kgb244 got his own e-mail. if you could just respond, or e-mail me(at the amatuers e-mail) i be greatfull(is that spelt right?) and don't forget, my quote holds true to damn most anyone.

Which email

kb244@kb244.8m.com
kb244@kb244.com
...@nc.rr.com
...@netzero.net?

well the kb244.8m.com came from my website (kb244.8m.com) which is now turned back into a free site, and the anything@kb244.8m.com now forwards to my kb244@kb244.com, which in turn I got through my domain name & webhosting http://www.kb244.com, the nc.rr.com comes from my ISP, and the netzero comes from the Dialup ISP (free) that I grabed before I got cable.

also the comment on hotmail was out of sarcasm, but I see your point, basically most webbased emails I dont like too much, hotmail seems to be a real big one, and in my mind is more unsecure. But as PRGRMR had already stated his reasons for being on hotmail(apparently not out of 100% free choice).

to touch back on an old topic, in most companies looking to grab people to put on a team, it isnt always good to present youself in a unprofessional manner, even if you are one of the top notch programmers, I myself am not very business like, but I am pretty good at programming, but I dont see my employers bragging about money and such, I dont belive money should be the driving force in the IT market, but rather the desire, one who likes his or her job, will have the tendency to do that job to the best of their ability, and do it with a smile.

Of course I know we all started out as newbies, when I was a newbie, I was one that was trying to learn programming without the aid of the internet, and only reasources were Qbasic help file, and a school library of hardly any usefull information. But I had fun with it, most of the languages I learn are learned through experience, and experimentation. most people are more content with sticking their nose in the book, and not using the help file for the useful parts (But only to find a cut and paste example).

Oh one tip if you want to try this yourself sometimes, goto 8m.com or freeservers.com, they give 20Meg webspace free, but even if you dont want a webpage, the other thing they also offer free is unlimited forwarding, this means you can have anything@yoursubdomain.com

so being back to the free site on that location
k@kb244.8m.com yo@kb244.8m.com hi@kb244.8m.com kickme@kb244.8m.com all forward to kb244@kb244.com

so you could probally make up something creative to forwards to a hotmail account in the meantime, probally give people different Alias@ depending on how you relate to them, and it also helps too when you use POP3 email, so you can filter emails based on the Alias sent to. like all spam places that ask for email before entering, I just use SPAM@kb244.8m.com so when I download it into Outlook it'll filter it off in the junkmail folder.

oh anymore questions?

All due respect to you PRGRMR, but so many people come on here saying "Make money... blah blah blah"... People are bound to be skeptic. It would help if you had a credible email and postal address. I mean, anyone can set up a hotmail account... As kb244 said:

if its not some of the things I've seen its definitly your attitude and |33t behavior that throws me off.

I agree with him 100%. No offence, just the way you act greatly influences peoples opinions.

Sounds like a pretty pathetic game, if it even exists. For one thing, VB is not the language to program games in unless its like Tic-Tac-Toe or something. The second is that this guy is running on a budget of absolutely nothing. IT TAKES MONEY TO MAKE MONEY. His e-mail is free, his web site AND domain name are free.

If you ask me, PRGRMR sounds like a newbie.

Maybe he thinks people hang around here just because they are bored and want someone to give them something to do!

Sad, Most people are hear to learn or because they're stuck (thus busy).

As for the thread title, I ignore 5 mails a day with titles like that so I think I'll manage to ignore this one too. (once I've whinged of course!, I'm an Aussie, Whinging is in my blood)

i've read the other messages,

n i've got nothing to say none of my business, but um UHF ur wrong on that VB used to be a poor programming tool for games, but with Direct X7 backing it up, it's actually capable of programming proper games. although i think VC++ (Visual C ++) is the better alternative then again who am i? everyone has a right to say what is the best. in my opinion trying to figure out what the best is would be like 2 guys trying to say which of the 2 girls look better. people have different opinions.

As far as the statement that only newbies use Hotmail is a load of bull.. I use hotmail as a filter so to speak. I give it publicly and all those banner junkies use it to make their money. With Hotmail, I then filter all that crap and read the important ones. If I find someone whom I can actually communicate with, I then give them my REAL e-mail. So, no.. hotmail is NOT for JUST newbies. ;)

In fact, you have to be a NEWBIE just to make that statement.. LOL Just raggin ya.. no harm intended.. :)

Dec 26th, 2000, 12:08 AM
I do not agree with the statement that amatuers use webbased mail....
well, it depends on which kind of amatuer... programming, or business... business, yes it is amatuer, but not necesairly amatuer at programming...
