What is going on all,,,

So yeah, i've started university, and had some spare cash so i bought a laptop.

so my question is: when i take notes in a class, what is the best way to store them and keep track of each day's notes. if anyone has any experience, what did you do that worked, what didn't work for you, etc...

thanks for the help

I'd have a complex directory structure, like Uni/Sept 10 2002/Computer Administration or whatever, and have all the seperate notes there. Or, have Uni/Comp Admin/Sept 10, so you can simply issue a command to print everything in the Comp Admin dir and put it in a binder - very handy. If you're good at programming try your hand at a simple organiser - so you can search by note title, date, or class.

i'm in a program at my school that uses laptops 24/7 (3rd eyar for me)

use the my docs folder (faster access), don't bother with a subfolder for "University" or whatever, just make a folder in capital letters for the course name. prefix it with a ~ so it goes to the top of hte list (faster) and so all your school related stuff is in one neat block... (faster)

sub dirs in each subject folder...depends on the course. some classes you can divide it by topic, some by month....some you just make one called "Notes" for your daily stuff and then other folders for essays or what not, one folder to a topic.
