I record TV episodes and such on my computer using a coaxial cable hooked up through my video card. Well, anyways, when I export these files, they are humungous. ITs almost disgusting, infact, its gruesome. A 30 minute file takes up an ungodly 300mbs!!!!! Right now, its in mpeg-2 format, but I want to find a way to convert it into mpeg-4 or avi. I have the divx 4 codec, but I need software to convert the mpeg-2 files to mpeg-4 or avi. So, I have two questions, which format compresses the movies better, and what software should I use to convert these files. Please help! I have a 60gig hard drive, and I already have 55 of those used!!! And I only have about 12 hours of Simpsons, Friends, and other TV shows on there! PLEASE HELP!!!
