Unhappy 50 % of threads unanswered?

I am new to this forum, but have noticed that at least 50% of the threads go unanswered.

Does anyone know of a more technically aware forum?

Of course I have only a 40 - 50% chance of getting this answered

Don't know about anyone else but I think most people are learning .net at the mo and haven't got the time to be on the forums as often as you would be with vb. All the forums regarding vb.net (vbcity etc) are loads slower in answering than vb6 ones but then there are way more people still using vb then .net - be patient we will get there!!!

Usually more threads than that are answered, usually I do my best to answer or find the answer for them, but yesterday I was really busy at work and most the posts on this page were asked early this morning (my time). And the forum isnt very busy during those hours. But I am in the process of answering the ones I can.

I notice that some of the forums have such rapid turnover that if you post at the right time, your post gets pushed so far down the list in such a short time that few people will even see it unless they page through several pages.

Thats true also.. Just kind depends when you post. Best posting time would be from around 11:00 AM - 6:00 PM Eastern Time (GMT -5) on the weekdays.

i have to say that i haven't been answering questions eitheir and usually if i am around i will look up the answer for people like cander does, but i haven't been around in along while. and no one knows everything. well except maybe Cander.

also there has to be something said about doing your own research and not depending on Cander or anybody else to answer your questions...msdn, open it, look in the index and search it. if you don't have it go to msdn.microsoft.com and go to the libray and look in .net development.

    MSDN.

I must disagree with your statement.

Why would we have forums if that was the case?

So you can post "go look for yourself" ?

Surely the idea is not to re-invent the wheel everytime you start something new but to ask questions, so as to save time.

I was always taught that the people who ask the most questions are usually the ones to finish first.

    Forums are for sharing information.

ok, give me a % of your paycheck then. the forum's ae for hard questions or when you don't completely understand how to implement what the documentation says.

And if i could go look it up and answer the question in 20 secs why did you need me to do it for you.....? thats what i meant. I like to answer those hard questions but stuff where the answer is obvious no. I even think i recall cander saying something along those lines somewhere..... look at the one i just posted to about internet shortcuts. i could read the article and write the code but don't you think that is wrong..?

Thats not what you said though...

I agree you should always look first. But but when it comes down to it that what forums are for.

Forums (well at least I think this one is) are voluntary. If that is your attitude, should you even be registered? Forums really arent for making money from its members. You should be running a business support service if you want paying for your time.

I am not trying to start something.

You shouldnt get so agressive when someone simply disagrees with what you have to say.

Also I merely offered some advice on what you could do to remedy your annoyance in posting help on the forums.

Sorry if I hurt your feelings.
