I would recommend wrox publishing: www.wrox.com

I havn't read any of their VB.NET books, but their Vb6 books were awesome.

I've been using Visual Basic .NET Black Book by Holzner (published by Coriolis)
    ISBN 1-57610-835-X

If you've experience with Visual Basic5/6 programming then this book is pretty good. Its maybe not so good for complete beginners.

I've also bought ASP.NET The Complete Reference by Matthew MacDonald (published by Osborne)
    ISBN 0-07-219513-4

Of all my company's money I've spent on books in the past, this has to be the best spent. If you're looking for a book on creating web pages and web development with .NET, this is well worth a look.

I have a couple books that aren't what you would call the first books you should get. The reason I recommend these is it shows how to do it in VB.NET, then it shows the exact same thing in C#. Knowledge of how to convert C# to VB and vice versa is in my opinion, the best thing for you with .Net. You just open yourself to twice as many examples, and a lot of them are from the C++ crowd that seems, to me anyway, to let you get a lot more of the advanced programming stuff that us VBers weren't really doing with VB6.

Anyway, the books are certification books from MS:
