Hey All,,
I am contemplating buying a new sound card (i currently have a sb live value) and was wondering what other options i have that are comparable to the new audigy cards. How do Hercules and Turtle Beach cards compare? (and price wise also.)
Thanks

First I'd like to say that I LOVE my Audigy! The EAX 3.0 makes life worth living...:D
That said, if you want something comparable to Creative, the Turtle Beach Santa Cruz is comparable. Supports EAX 1 and 2 I think but not EAX 3, but if all ya do is listen to MP3s and CDs for all intents and purposes they will sound the same.
I however very highly recommend teh Audigy.

another Q: do all the versions for the audigy card support eax 3? and what is eax advanced hd?
i was looking at the mp3 version, since it is half the price of the platinum one :)

EAX 3 is Advanced HD
BTW, get the Audigy OEM at Newegg for $60. Just the card, no extra software you don't need.

How does everybody know my name! :D
Yeah, that'd be the one-- didn't know you were in Canada..NCIX is good for Canadian parts.
Just the card, and drivers too-- but not any excess software. If you want some of the stuff in the MP3+ bundle (and the fancy box :)) get the MP3+, but the MP3+ and the OEM and even the X-Gamer all have the exact same card. The Platinum is the same card plus breakout box.
Extigy is just an external Audigy for those who can't be bothered with opening PC case or that have a laptop, don't worry about it. :)

Audigy is basically a Live with EAX3 support, higher sound quality (100DB SnR ), far less driver problems, and an integrated FireWire port.
Well worth the extra $30US you usually spend for it.

My Live! is great, I have no complaints, when i rebuild my machine (sometime in the spring next year i think, or in the fall i am probably not going to replace the sound card because it works fine

Gandalf in the process of specing a new machine, so am trying to load it with the best of the standard parts. The LIve card in my current rig works a treat as well.
