Windows 2000 window sizes and positions
I just got a new PC with Win2K on it, and there's a couple of annoying issues with various window sizes and positions that I hope someone out there can help me solve or work around.
I've been using Win98 for 4 years, and whenever I'd open an Explorer window (Windows [file] Explorer), it would ALWAYS open up in the same size and position as I had it last. In fact, I believe I set it up the way I liked it 4 years ago and haven't had to touch it since (IE is another story). Anyway, apparently Microsoft took that nice feature away from Win2k...whenever I open Windows Explorer in Win2k, the window is smaller than I adjusted it to. The column widths and width of the directory tree frame appear the original size, but the main window requires re-sizing. Extremely annoying. Anybody know how to fix this?
Another thing is the Save As window. In Win98, whenever I'd use this window from Netscape or IE, I liked it in the upper left corner, and it stayed there each time I opened it. No more. Win2k's version opens center screen no matter what, besides having a bunch of extra junk on it that makes it slower to open in Win2k on my P4 2.53GHz machine than the old Win98 version on my PII 400MHz. Anybody know how to fix this one, or use an alternative?
Thanks for your help,
