What OS do i need to run .net?

Windows 2000 Server, or Professional. Windows XP Pro or Windows 4.0 NT Server. Can i use Windows XP standard instead of the pro version?

basically I think it runs on any NT based OS, that is NT 4.0 and above I GUESSSSSS. :rolleyes:Umm and yes that includes win xp

Thanks guys. I was just wondering because every time i come across what the requirements are to run .Net all is see is XP Pro. I think that Micro$soft says this just to make people think that they need pro so they go out and spend $200.00 for the pro version instead of $100.00 for standard.

Pro is only needed for running ASP .NET locally because you need IIS5 and XP standard doesnt come with that. But other than that, everything else will run. If you need to run and test asp .net, you can get a free .net hosting from www.brinkster.com

So does IIS enable your computer to act as a fileserver? Because i read somewhere that your computer should be formatted with NTFS rather than FAT since this would result in better performance and greater security when running ASP .Net applications.

IIS is a web server software. And yes NTFS is best.
