    Question

I have been distributing an application that utilizes an Access97 database. The application is built using both DAO and ADO. A large group of my constituents has expressed interest in using the application, however, they have Acess2000. I thought it would be a simple matter of converting the database, changing the ADO datasource using Jet4.0 and using DAO 3.6. But for some reason it doesn't want to work. All of the forms on which I use ADO are fine, the forms with DAO give me an error message that suggests that the file "ETHICS.MDB" is unrecognized.

The only reason I am using DAO in that it allows me to select a query from my access database, while ADO does NOT (only can choose tables not queries).

Any help you might be able to provide would be terrific.

    THANKS IN ADVANCE,
    Austin Moran

Does it ever get any easier?

Unless you are invoking an Access application object, I do not believe that you users need a copy of Access97 to read the databaii. I have a similar application using DAO/ADO to read Access97 databaii and I have not had problems reading the old format on machines with Office2000 unless I invoke to Access Runtime (which is 2000). I'm converting mine to Access2000 and I'll let you know if I can get it to work....
