vb.net for XP Home?
Hi,
Does anyone know if VB.net will run OK on Windows XP Home Edition. The blurb under the requirements section on the Microsoft Website say Windows XP Pro only. Is this just an ommission on their part ?
Thanks

I run VS.Net on both Win XP professional and WinXP Home with no problems yet.
The only thing that may give you trouble is maybe some of the more advanced features....don't know though, for right now, it is working great on both.

Thanks,
I was 99% sure it would and was guessing that Microsoft were just playing it safe. I'm assuming that it's going to be stuff like ASP.net that may be a problem

I've installed Visual Studio.NET on XP Home Ed. and there doesn't appear to be any problems...yet....err, except me.
I noticed that when i installed VS.NET it said it wanted to upgrade XP, didn't say what it was upgrading too though....maybe i have XP Pro edition now.....who knows <shrug>
Not sure about just VB.NET

Check under system properties. If you have professional edition it will say under the Generel Tab
Microsoft Windows XP
Professional Edition
Version 2002

It still says Home Edition.
The installer went on for some time (like ten minutes) "upgrading" XP and rebooted the computer.
What i meant was, maybe it has upgraded it to the Pro version in "like" with all the features of the Pro version.
What is the difference between the Home Ed. and the Pro Ed. anyway? anyone know?
VS.NET works ok here anyway.

If you check http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/whichxp.asp
This gives you a rough idea. The differences are mainly networking but also more adavnced backup facilities and also IIS built in (for Website hosting)
