Hi,
Has anyone been able to get their pc to use two monitors sumiltaneously. Basicaly two separate desktops so that you can scroll your mouse from one screen to the other?
If so, what hardware/software would I need?

i'm not sure but i dont think win2k has multiple monitor capabilities unless it's part of your graphics card.

yeah, i set one up last month, you need a graphics card that supports multiple monitors, the one i set up had a ATI Radeon 7500. Between the card drivers and Windows 2000's settings, you can get it running.

I just put an xtra nvidia e-tnt2 in my win 2000 comp. The card comes in pci and only cost about 30 bucks. Voodoo 5 is the other graphics card. It required no settings other than going into my display properties and selecting which card I wanted to use as my default card.

I have a 2MB S3 Virge in mine. It only goes up to 1024x768x16 but if you can find a card with 8MB of memory it should be fine.

What graphics card do you have?

jpbtennisman,
It sounds like you're the person to talk to.
I have a GForce 4 MX. It has dual screen support, or at least I think it does. Its in the settings if I go to the graphics card properties. Do you know if I can use a PCI card with my gf4? If so, how do I set it up?

If the GeForce4 MX has dual screen support, why wouldn't you juse use that?
If you have a valid reason NOT to, I don't see why a PCI card wouldn't work. Don't make the same mistake I made, get a video card with at least 8MB of memory. This should enable you to run 1280x1024 at 32 bit color.

The gf4 has one monitor and one tv out. I have a strange output for the tv out. I have never seen a connection like that before. I did however receive an adapter which converts to rca from this strange connection. If I manage to get a connection that will change to a monitor serial, would this work?
Wouldn't this just duplicate what is on my screen? Don't you need a dual head graphics card for actual dual screen and not just a mirror?

Oh..I see, I thought it was a dual head card.
Yeah, get any PCi video card off of eBay :)

Heres a link that explains how to do it in windows 98. It might be a bit similiar.
