    PHP versions, d00d!

Just like phpversion() gets the server's version of PHP, is there a magical kung-fu voodoo way of getting the latest version of PHP?

    highly unlikely.

Unless you want to start parsing the contents of the download page to extract the version

I don't think any language has a function to get the latest version. It'd have to connect with the server and all that hoopla. Just not probable. So take your Kung-Fu somewhere else.

I doubt it will ever happen, as by doing that php.net has to give you access to their server which opens a hole for hackers to use.

I suspect they will never create such a function because it would require hard coded into each php installation so detecting the new version would not be possible.

Do you think they'll get around to adding support for cup holders in the installation?
