Spaceship Simulation

I am very very new to VB and am attempting to make a space simulation. the Idea being it is top down and the arrow keys move your ship around the form. I have been attempting to do it using a GIF but I can't reallyg it moving right. I was wondering if anyone could help me get my ship to move, and maybe push me in the right direction as far as images go.
