Why would I need an internet registry? Perhaps you should explain a little.

Many reasons.. like suppose u want all your software to access one common place for the latest data or something.. u know.. version numbers, weather... stock quotes, etc... U could even use it to implement an Internet Activation system... up to one's imagination...
Just like a normal registry you could add or delete keys.. u could save data, etc..

But can't I just set that up on my own server? Why pay for it? Of course, I know that other's might not know how to do it.
