Need a programer...
Hi, I own and operate Patriot Candle Company. I have looked long and hard for a program designed for the candle maker and can't find one. Not one! What I need, and tons of others need is a program that I can enter in all of my raw materials (ie. wax's, scents, dye's, additives...) into a database. Then enter 'Recipes' into the system just like a food recipe, including such things as item, quantity, etc. Then be able to tell it that I made 'Recipe #1' and have it take out the materials from inventory. It would of course have to be able to make all sorts of reports based on user defined inventory levels parameters.
If you think you would be interested in developing such a program I would like to hear from you.
Thank you for your time,
Bryan Turcotte

Hi
I have written such a program for a confectionery manufacturer a long time ago ( it was around 1986 on an Olivetti - M20 computer running a very early version of MS-DOS in Olivetti - Basic) The system worked fine and he used it for many years. The operator defined recipes that used predefined quantities of ingredients that were then scheduled for production and reduced stock levels accordingly and generated re-ordering reports etc. I'd be surprised if there is no equivalent today as the concept is relevant to many industries.
I'd say that the system you are looking for is a 'Recipe' System, rather than a stock inventory system as some of the replies you have recieved are indicating. 'Recipe' being the operative word - there is a database of recipes you define using predetermined quantities of your stocks for each recipe and being able to expand that for multiple quanities based on your scheduled production levels. It's like an extra overview of your stock levels - instead of somone wanting a wick, they need a wick + x mls of wax, + so much colour - Am I on the right track ?
I'm probably not in a position to write this at the moment but if I can give anyone some help with design - pls reply
