the lastest is 7.3, but if there isnt enough documentation on 7.3 to help you install, configure, you can get 7.2, learn that, then upgrade.

Yeah, 7.3 just came out, so their FTP servers are so busy I can't even download security patches for 7.2...

markman..some asnwers to your questions in your sig.
Ive got windows 2000 on a western digital master drive and RedHat on a maxtor as primary slave. No problems or conflicts.
I see no reason why Linux wouldnt run off a secondary slave.
OS Selectors? No clue. Im still trying to figure out how to dual boot to linux without my floopy boot disk. I found instrcutions for LILO but not the other bott thingy that starts with a G..cant remember right now..

Markman...The version of Linux I use, Mandrake 8.2 comes with the OS selectors LILO and GRUB at startup. You basically pick which one you want to use (it doesn't matter which, although I use LILO), and the installation configures it for you. As regards the secondary slave thing, I'm not sure but I'm about to try a similar process myself, so I'll let you know.

so I can install them both on primary ide (maxtor as master, 2k, and wd as slave, redhat) and lilo will let me pick which OS to load? Thats perfect.

Here's how I did it - IIRC - using the Windows boot loader and RHL7.0 and 7.1, and there's better instructions out on the web.:)
Yes, install W2K first on the master - that parts easy.
Then install Linux on the slave drive, making sure not to install LILO over the MBR on the master disk, or you'll "lose" Windows.
Make sure you make the Linux boot floppy.
When you reboot, the NTLDR should get you into W2K as normal - no mention of Linux yet.
Reboot off the floppy, back into Linux - then's a command (dd?) that'll let you copy the first 512 bytes off of wherever you put LILO on the slave disk - save in to a floppy.
Boot back into Windows 2000 - copy the file you just made onto the root of the C:\ drive - then you can add an Entry into W2K's boot.ini file that points to "C:\filename.lnx" or whatever you called it, and give a descriptive name for NTLDR to display.
Then when you reboot, the Windows Loader should give you nice choice of "Windows 2000 Professional" and "Linux (whatever)". And interestingly, picking the Linux choice goes into LILO rather than right into Linux, so you probably can tweak that further.
Now, for a challenge, get Linux and BSD to dual-boot AND share the same user accounts!

is this (http://www.littlewhitedog.com/reviews_other_00011.asp) a better description of what you mean to do?
And is there an OBVIOUS option to make sure you dont do anything to the MBR?

Markman you can actually do a triple boot if you want. Install the first windows OS (if you plan on running 98 or ME, install those first) and then install Windows 2000 or XP. Windows 2000/XP boot loader will handle those two OSes.
Then install Linux, Lilo will either let you boot to Linux or to Windows, where it will show you the 2K/XP bootloader to let you choose between two Windows OSes.
So that's 3 OSes on one system :) OSes don't take up much space, Windows is about 1GB...Linux really varies, although a decent install of KDE and a couple of extras will also run you about 1GB...
It's perfect really, if you want to play DOS games, load up 98, if you want to do advanced programming stuff load up Linux, and 2K/XP for everything else :D
