I have developed an application with VB6 and deployed it successfully on Win95. When I´ve tried to install it on a Compaq Presario (laptop) which has Win98 pre-installed it doesn´t run ok: I get error messages such as "21474717848 Automation Error:Method Refresh of object IAdodc failed". Someone told me I had to create a Win98 setup package, I did so and it works Ok on an IBM Thinkpad with Win98, but problems persist on the Presario.
When I generate either setup package (Win95 or 98) I get the following message :
"You have included mdac_typ.exe in your installation package. If you will be installing this package on a Windows 95/98 system, it will require DCOM98 to install properly."
Has this something to do with the problem? If so, which is this DCOM98 file, where do I find it and how do I add it to my setup?
PLEASE, any tip or hint about this will be VERY APPRECIATED.
Thanks
Leo

DCOM
DCOM is Distributed COM ( at least I Think thats what it stands for....)
It's sometimed needed if you have used mdac_typ.exe (ado libraries, i think) in your project. Whether it is needed or not can depend on which version of IE you have installed.
You should be able to download it as a self extracting .exe file. I've had to use the 95 version (DCOM95.exe), so i presume the 98 version would be called DCOM98.exe (or would that be too logical?)
there are issues between the different versions of DCOM, so it's best to go to http://www.microsoft.com and search form DCOM98 and have a read of the documentation
hope this is of some help to you
