If same price, what is the warranty on each one? The one with the longer warranty is probably going to be better....though this doesn't apply in the case of Toshiba laptops.....

"All Mach V systems are warranted for a one year period. In addition, Mach V systems include one year of Falcon Overnight service. Extending the warranty and Falcon Overnight service to a three year period is an option available at the time of system purchase. The coverage includes parts, labor, and overnight shipping on the system for the duration of the warranty period. Should you encounter a serious problem related to a hardware failure in your system that cannot be solved over the phone with Falcon Tech Support, Falcon Northwest will pay to have your system picked up via overnight courier, repaired, and returned via overnight shipping as well. "
same as dell

well, I tell you what justin, I live 20 miles from Falcon-nw and I haven't seen a machine ever sold in this valley since they came into existence. that tells you how good they are. I applied thee once about 5 years ago and at that time they only did software (if I remember right) addn now they build game machines? what's up with that?
go " Dude, you own a dell"

Hmm...
Well I'll have to take both your input and the input of many others into consideration...I am still heavily biased against dell because of use of proprietary parts, and even worse, Inhell

Because there's no reason to deal with proprietary crapola that comes with Dell...and the crapware that its preinstalled with

justin I do have to say I am with you on this. I try to talk people out of buying proprietary crap as well, but if there mind is made up then you really don't have a choice.
if you can build him one and it will all be better in the end.

like i said a friend has one, and he still uses it. came configured without any crap programs, just a clean install of windows, and the latest drivers etc.
inside the case was neat, they did a good job on cooling etc.

Very encouraging. I like manufacturers who ship without crapware.

Heh...by far you are wrong..
FNW and Alienware are the only 2nd-Tier manufacturers who do this, besides VoodooPC (VoodooPCs are the best ones you can buy but grossly overpriced)
I think micron also does this...they are a first-tier (up there with Comcrap and Hell)
There are hundreds or even thousands of third-tier (local shops or small online spots) who do this
I would normally not recommend an online third-tier builder usually because of the lack of support. However local shops often have the best support of ANY manufacturer.

Justin, that is my point. I have not heard a thing and they are right down the block (so to speak). if you lived in a town where a big company makes computers don't you think you would here something about the make of that computer?
