My son can buy Visual Basic 6.0 Professional Edition at his college and I asked him to pick it up for me. He says it says Visual Basic 6.0 Professional Edition....but now I worry that it's really an academic version of it because he said he can get it for around $100.
My question is.....is there 2 versions of the Visual Basic 6.0 Professional Edition......one being an academic version.

I'm fairly sure they're exactly the same program but the licencing might be different, you might not be licenced to sell your programs if you have the acedemic version, i'm not sure though

Hello,
The only difference between the two versions is the Price and a sticker on the out side of the box.

_______
I have the academic version and from what I've been told the only differene is in the fact that you need a commercial copy for if you plan on selling your applications commercially....however, that said, how will anyone know what version of VB you produced your apps with?
And then of course, who is to say what I have been told is correct????????????

I know...
I've got academic edition, too. The only difference is the price. That's the whole point of having academic
editions: the same functionality but at a lower price.

I just tought I'd let you know.#
See you all later.
Bye!

The EULA _is_ different. You can not legally sell any applications produced with the Academic licence. It's not a different version.. just a different licence. Technically, you're only allowed to use it if you're a student, teacher or a not for profit orginazation and you can't sell any applications that you produce. Not that someone is really going to know what licence you have.. but it's just as illegal to sell software made with the Academic licence as it is to sell software with a pirated version.
Also.. the person that sells you the product at the academic price is supposed to make sure that you qualify. I don't think anyone actually does this though.
