JungleMan
Mar 19th, 2002, 05:46 PM
Painting, window mods, lights, for appearance related stuff

Side/top ventilation, baybuses, for functional stuff

Plexiglass

I'm not sure where the lights are hooked up to, I'd assume the PSU but it might be from an external source

one of these days i am planning on adding an input fan on the back of my computer (there is a bracket prebuiltin in case you wanted to mid-maount your power supply i guess)

Something like this would be cool

You can build those LED wired with LEDs and 1Kohm resisters and plug that in the 12V out of ur power supply.

I got Black light inside my PC it is awesome, i'll take a picture when i'll get home, I spent like $USD 25.00 on it...

Nobody says you have to use the rainbow LEDs..

You can use blue and white ones...

Not a case mod per say but makes it look cool if you do the window mod

And dont put them in your PSU that's a silly waste of time, do it for case fans instead

mastermind94
Mar 19th, 2002, 10:24 PM
just get 2 power supply in that bugger ( one for the PC, the other one for accessories ( must me an AT one ))

one of my friends has the best case mod ever, we had Razer the robot from robot wars come to our uni, and we spent ages talking to the owners of the robot and my friend took a side panel off of his case and the robot put two big holes in it and then signed it, i think that this is the best case mod ever !!

My favorite mod still has to be the one where the guy put his comp in a suitcase, and had the lcd display on the side. that was cool

The Duron in that box died yesterday :( last I heard he was going to get a new one and a new heatsink at Frys (as the OCZ POS was most likely what caused it)

Theres a LAN party hosue around here but it's friggin expensive, $30 to get in the door, AND you have to bring everything, it's for ONE DAY

I'd rather just have some free play with my friends online :)

you can buy neons that hook up to a 4pin mulex or you can get one that goes onto the 12volt car adapter, cut off the adapter and put the red withe to a yellow wire on the 4 pin molex and the black wire on the black wire.

Why do people build model cars and planes? all they do is sit on the shelf. Seems pointless to me, but to others, quite an enjoyable hobby. :)

Most people do non functional case mods to show off at LAN parties.

Functional case mods however are a great thing, but I don't need any ;) :D

Why don't you just unplug it while you sleep. That's what i do to mine. CPU temps rise to like 50C with no case fans, idle, hehe:p

uh school, well i think i deserve it. every day for the past 2 weeks i have given up my lunch hour to format computers, i have gone through about 10 (it takes longer to stick 95 on a machine that has no network connection and no CD-ROM, so i have to put the installation files on a hard drive, then install dos on each individual machine, then install the hard drive, then copy the installation files to it, then install it, then set it up to work with the routers that they are to be hooked into :P) bah i got them out of the junk electonics room, i only took 2! that isn't such a HUGE crime, 40 cents for about 20 hours of work, plus all the other crap i have done for that school

Scout if you havent noticed their have not been many Computer problems lately, so why shouldnt we be able to talk about something, PC related, but does not involve solving someones computer problems? Its not like their quetions are ignored either.

yeah but you were talking about dimmer switches at school. also I have been around long enough to see if that you fool around in forums and not talk about what the forum is about it will get moved or the forum will become "post don't count."

This forum IS called General PC, no? I dont see the word "problem" anywhere near it. If you want to talk about anything that has anything to do with your PC, it seems to fit quite nicely into this forum.

I had a kinda tangential thought about all this cooling and modding stuff last summer.

I thought it would be cool if someone manufactured case jackets filled with some kind of fluid (I originally thought water, but there are some obvious considerations to take into account), that you could stick in the freezer, and put around your case on a hot day. It wouldn't do an amazing job at cooling, but it would bring the ambient temperature down and make your fans a little more efficient. the jacket would have to have openings in it for air circulation, but well...its an idea :)

over the weekend i got around to putting in an extra fan into the back of my computer, then on monday, despite all warning labels, i cracked open a fried power supply @ school and got a fan out of there (i am quite handy with electricity and know what i am tlaking about). Anyways it doesn't have the same connecter as the one coming out of the power supply so the fan i bought had an extension for the daisy chain which i just spliced and stuck on that extra fan, i learned at school that if you touch two exposed ends of power cables while the computer is running it will create a great spark, the computer immediately goes off, and it scares the **** out of you, no damage thouhg (i would NEVER try that with my computer, however it was a 486, hell, i had the hard drive successfully running with no cover on it :) )
