Hey guys, how's it going?
I was just surfing around a few VB sites and came across a very interesting one: VB Accelerator In here I found a couple of things that may be of interest in the form of OCXs and DLLs. I found a few that perform some of the things you guys have been asking about for a while. The really cool thing is that most of them include source code!!!
DLL, tips, code, and articles on System-Wide Hooks > here
Subclassing DLL, no more crashes and its free! > here
RichText 2.0, multiple undo (finally!) > here
Icon Editor (at least it's better than re-installing MicroAngelo every 30 days!) > here
COM support library, has to be seen to be believed! > here
Bitmap Tiler, just for kedaman > here
...and that's just the tip of the iceberg! Check this site out for TONS of other useful stuff. I can't believe I passed it by for so long!

Well, I have been on that place more than once, but haven't explored it as well as you might have done. Im going directly downloading that bitmaptile ans see if it wont crash on my computer as many other things fronm that site. Thanx anyway!
Use
writing software in C++ is like driving rivets into steel beam with a toothpick.
writing haskell makes your life easier:
reverse (p (6*9)) where p x|x==0=""|True=chr (48+z): p y where (y,z)=divMod x 13
To throw away OOP for low level languages is myopia, to keep OOP is hyperopia. To throw away OOP for a high level language is insight.

hardly any of it works, you have to download about five other projects to get it to work, and they never go in the same directory
it's all just fu**ed

To be honest, I only saw these last night for the first time. I haven't actually tried them out yet. I just saw that they included a lot of the functionality that you guys were looking for. I didn't mean for anyone to use the actual controls or DLLs directly, those things are usually fairly messy to install, this comes with most third-party controls. What I thought would be of interest is the source code and related articles, maybe providing some answers to those questions you guys have posted and never really got a working answer on. I was just passing on my findings to help fellow VBers.

You don't need to Install MicroAngelo every 30 days, do you? i never needed to, i just deleted it after about 40 days and used the VC++ one instead.

Actually, I was using the Delphi icon editor for the longest time. When I started doing Winamp Skins I was pointed toward MicroAngelo, and only allow a time-limited trial version was available from their site. I didn't know an icon editor came with VC++ though, unfortunately, I only have VB6 at home. I do have Visual Studio at work, so I'll check it on Monday. Thanks for the tip.
BTW, Megatron, did you get my tip from the API forum on the MS Internet Transfer Control? How's the project coming along?

imageedit!
I use a crappy little program called imageedit...
I put my 3rd visual studio cd in and browsed through it using explorer.
I found a little thing called imagedit....
its an icon maker/editor..
it is ALOT better than the VC++ one.....
I have it, 91kb zipped, including read me and help files...
who wants it?
if I get three requests I will put it up on a website.
it can make 16x16 and 32x32 icons, and cursors. it can also make 2 color and 16 color bitmaps.
also....
www.favicon.com you can make them online, and have them sent to your email box.
I used this untill I found imagedit.

you have to follow heaps of links to find out what other projects you need, then it installs them into crap directories, and will not ley u register them !
