Can anyone give me a very basic explanation of what API is all about?

API 's Articles r very Important.As 'Hack' given some useful links,it will help u very much.
that particular Function 'BitBlt' Is used to copy Pixel by Pixel from a Source to any Destination.(Eg:From One Picture Box To Another Picture Box).You may find 'API' Text Viewer Coming with VisualBasic Tools ,will help you to get Functions declarations.
But if u want to know more about each every functions with examples,ofcourse you should go to some sites.
