Internet File Passwords

Ok, my program has an autoupadte to it right? And everything is ok, it downloads off the internet ok BUT i was wondering how i can protect the database file from other nonregistered users from downloading it.

Im currently using winsock control for the download.
Any tips would help!

One option is to use a password protected site. Provide a page for id & password entry and allow entry only after verification is done.
