I hate Java but this is still interesting.
You can port your .NET apps to Java for cross platform usage until such time as .NET gets ported to other paltforms using this

Fairly high interest factor.
I think I may give this a shot and see how it works by porting a small app to this and run it on my Red Hat box.

So let me get this straight since .net applications can so far only run on Windows platforms this inet anywhere enables the user to write Java code in in the .net frame work thus enabling .net to be cross platform?

No. it takes what you write in another .NET language(VB, C#, etc) and turns it into Java so that it is cross platform.

That why i thought that this inet thingy was enabling the programmer to code in Java. But i guees it just turns VisualBasic .net and C# code into Java. I guess it's good for someone who currently knows a .net language well and wants to be able to port their application to other non windows platforms until .net become cross platform.

I dont really see a seemless integration between windows development applications and non-windows operating systems. I just dont see it. I am sure if there are ,NET ports for linux or mac, there will be problems and it will never work right... Just my opinion about cross-platform.
