When an application asking for a pop server, what is the syntax. It might be an elementary question but I don't know the lingo to the internet world.

    POP stands for (P)ost (O)ffice (P)rotocol.

They are looking for an internet address usually in the form of :

    mail.internetprovider.com

This is basically an IP Address to the server which handles the email.

Thanks for replying so quickly Generation-X.

Just one more question. How do I obtain the Pop Server IP address of Yahoo Mail.

BTW... Behind a firewall. I just need to get it, does not have to be by code.

Why not just ping it... If it is available at ALL for you to use then you can just get the DSN to return its ip address to you.

    "ping mail.yahoo.com"

    OR

"ping pop.yahoo.com" (Remembered there is this alternative)

If it doesn't give you the ip address back then they have firewalled it out or made it only available on their local subnet mask so you wont be able to get it or use it. They didn't put it behind a firewall for nothing
