Question for Parksie
So what's the best book to learn C++ from.
* Jethro waits for the sound of Parksie hitting his head against his desk.
Yes l am bored.
Have VIsual C++ installed, a couple of books, a project even, and haven't got the time to sit down and get started on it

I don't remember what all the ones people have already mentioned are, but I think Sams' Teach Yourself C++ came out quite well.
Go to www.bruceeckel.com and get Thinking in C++, that's very good - it's not a total beginner's guide, but you'll pick it up quite quickly when used alongside something else.
Search on the forum and there's quite a few threads

PS: I didn't learn C++ from a book
I learnt C from a combination of my dad and a copy of The C Programming Language (by that pair of Methuselahs, Kernighan and Ritchie ).
Then I branched into C++ when I first got Visual C++ and started developing on a PC, and picked bits up off MSDN and from randomly messing with it.

Sorry Parksie, remember posting this question a year or so ago, and you having answered the same question multiple times and pointing to the search facility.
Was bored and thought, "I know l'll get Parksie to bang his head on his desk again"
Oh well back to flaming Americans, though it is getting boring, they are so easy to fire up

Oh right.
It's quite hard to wind me up (I get like this, having to deal with all the c++ n00bs )
