What are the advantages/disadvantages in using WinSock over Internet Transfer Control
A part of our application currently is using ITC and is now blocked by a firewall. Apparently WinSock will correct this. I have been asked to create a report on the advantages/disadantages of each but have just taken over this application and have no experience with either of these.
FYI...they are used to FTP files to a central location.
If you know of a web site that may have this info, I would appreciate the address. I have tried MDSN and also looking myself on the web to find this info, but have come up with definitions only.
Thanks.

it has nothing to with what control you are using. The firewall is blocking the FTP port. Wether you use winsock of itc it wont matter as it would still be the same port you would use..(21)
