    Hi all.

    Is there a way to open a File for both input and output at the same time without opening it for Random access? I don't want to use Random access because the length of the lines of data are not consistent.

    You can open it in Binary! It's always the fastest way to read and write files.
    Use
    writing software in C++ is like driving rivets into steel beam with a toothpick.
    writing haskell makes your life easier:
    reverse (p (6*9)) where p x|x==0=""|True=chr (48+z): p y where (y,z)=divMod x 13
    To throw away OOP for low level languages is myopia, to keep OOP is hyperopia. To throw away OOP for a high level language is insight.

    Sure open the file in binary mode.
    Code:
    Open "c:\myfile.dat" For Binary Access Read Write As #1
