[general non-vb] a sound question
I have a question, i am making a program and a website for a friend, but he wants an flash intro...
With music
And i really wouldn't know what kind of music i should chose, the flash file must be kept small at all costs so the music needs to be repeated...
Anyone got any idea's ?
I'm looking for something small, good sound quality, wav or mp3 doesnt matter, something popular or somehting that is able to atract attention...
And if possible a regular beat or something, that way i can use the animations to 'respond' on the beat , that way it looks nicer.
Icheb
p.s. sorry, but i dont know where else to ask this question
The main VB routine in Windows XP (The don't admit it, they wrote it in VB)
[vbcode]
Public Sub Windows_Load()
a = 1
b = 2
if not a + b = 2 then
goto crash
end if
goto crash
End Sub
[/vbcode]

Behemoth might be the fellow to ask here, he's the multimedia guru for Sentience.
Personally I have no idea, but I think that a .wav or .mp3 would eat too much bandwith to be viable.
Unless you know someone who writes bits of music, you'll have to write your own to avoid copyright violations....
Anything 4:4 (or maybe even 4:3?) with a solid 'thump' baseline will be easy to make the animation bounce in tune, but it'll probably really piss people off unless you do it well...
Anyways - I'll point the hairy guy in this direction.
Gentile or Jew,
O you who turn the wheel and look to windward,
Consider Phlebas, who was once handsome and tall as you...

err...
The trick with Flash as with anything is to keep the file size small. One method is to compose a number of "tessalating" loops and play them randomly against each other, giving the impression of a single tune. A number of sites have very simple loops, the beginning/end of which are quite obvious, so it shouldn't be too difficult to produce something which is above average quality.
I've not got much experience using Flash with sound, but I believe the most efficient way is MP3, as its probably the best compression Flash supports. Have a look at www.flashkit.com for a selection of hundreds of loops, perhaps as a starting point for your own composition.
good luck
