diversity/diversify? ***..

first im a swede&kid.. i found a english program that says
something like this (the program generates hits to a website)

program can be downloaded at www.clickingagent.com


Use this dialog to add randomization to generated hits. Set
up hits diversity by day of week and/or set up daily diversity
to be applied to total number of generated hits..."

This dialog can be found:
1. Go to the Accounts tab
2. press F2
3. push 'Randomize' button (voila!)



example: I've setup today's hits to a total of 9999

now the numbers should be calculted for each day
depending on yesterdays result, but how does it work?



what happens when you use 'diversity'/'diversify? is it a formula?

how could I use it (this is what i want to know, as im making a similair program)

Ok. The forests in Sweden have low species diversity, especially in terms of trees.

Pretend that I put a blindfold on you (cover your eyes) and let you walk in a forest near home. You will bump into trees. In a low diversity space this means that when you bump into a new tree, it will very likely be the same species (kind) of tree you just bumped into before.

In high diversity, almost every tree you bump into will be a different type of tree, compared with the tree you previously bumped into.

Measuring diversity:
It only matters that you encounter an item that was different from the previous item, not how many different possible items there are. See the two bitstreams above. In the first one there is very little change in going from bit to bit. In the high diversity bitstream, every time you hit the next bit it's different.
