Hi,
I have created an activeX control for use on our company intranet - I have packaged it up (I am using vb6 to write it) using the package & deployment wizard.
The wizard has included my ocx as well as the usual vb-runtime.
When the my user community runs my webpage which has my control on it (call cab-ed up in the object tag) - the control installs ok on most machines....
On some (and I cannot spot any pattern as to which fail...), I get a error with the system failing to find a file
C:\temp\ICD1.tmp
when registering/installing comcat.dll???
It allows a cancel or skip functions. Simply skipping and all works ok. My question is this - What is this message for - I have no referenced to any ICD1 file in any of my work and dont care....
My real problem is when we go live and publicise our new intranet site and all the users go in for the first time. If, when using the system, the get load of rubbishy error messages, our helpdesk will be busy with all the calls logged (even if the advice is to -just skip this error-). Also our work looks very unprofessional especially to the director who commissioned the work.
any input or help would be greatly appreciated....
many thanks, A.J.P

p.s. - I hate ActiveX-Controls - the amount of problems the cause (error messages galore) in a large environment makes them an unsuitable for business use.....
p.p.s - looked for this on microsofts knowledgebase - u guessed it - nothing relevant
