Visual Studio .Net Vs .net Framework
Hello
A month ago, I have received a DVD that came with PC Magazine (Belgium edition) with the following title:
Visual Studio .Net
.net Framework Beta 2
Because I don't have a DVD (yet), can somebody explain me the difference? What for developping tools they contain?
Second question, on the micro$oft homesite I have downloaded the Visual J++ # editon (Beta 1). It is around 7 Megs. I have not installed the Visual Studio .Net. When I try to install it, W2K (service pack 2) says: There is an incorrect Service Pack installed, do I have to install the beta of .Net or so? How long would the beta work?
Thanx very much...

it is kind of sketchy what you are asking, but it seems that youa re asking if you can install the j++# crap or whatever without the framework.. is that it? I know you cant install .NET without the framework im pretty sure because it wont work correctly, or you may not be able to compile. I would just make sure you had completely installed um eh er the service pack II and you had the Visual Studio .NET Framework installed correctly. If you dont have a DVD-ROM or whatever I would wait until I had one before i was trying to install all kinds of things.
If I am incorrect im sorry.... i couldnt really understand the question.

ooohhh i think i understand more than i did. You are asking if visual studio .net is differnet than the .net framework? i think they must coexist for the former to work. the latter will just chill there and then you can run the applications for the .NET....
i think that is how it works

Visual Studio is nothing more than and visual IDE for for writing programs, but you dont have to use it. The framework is the runtimes ad libraries including the command line compiler's so you can just install the framework and still write programs with any text editor.
