    Race Attacks

Having heard about various race attacks on Muslims over the past few days, I thought this article from yesterday's London Evening Standard would be worth pointing out. It's written by a UK-based Muslim.

An excellently written article. I hope more people read it.

I agree, that is a good article. Sometimes though, people try to read between the lines. Here's a Muslim who says "don't be afraid of me", and I think there are still some people who might be too paranoid to accept the words of their face.

I accept the words. I am an American citizen, born here, my ancestors are traced back to Plymouth and the Mayflower etc. I am as W.A.S.P.y as they come, entirely of British descent, and I must say I am rather ignorant when it comes to other cultures. I don't know much about them.

However, I do not subscribe to labels and stereotypes. I think the author of that article makes some very good points, and I hope that others will understand and accept his words in the way he meant them.

We're all in this together. Since this board is frequented by a younger crowd, I hope everyone takes some time to try to understand the state of the world right now and grow intellectually from the events as they unfold.
