What are the different ways to make windows programs besides MFC?
And what are some good books, I only have found books on MFC.
Thanks

Platform SDK is another standard. You can download 250MB from MSDN or get the CD for like $5.00.
Book: the BEST, hands down, is any of the
'Programming Windows 95' books, by Charles Petzold. His texts are considered definitive in the area.
This is NOT MFC.

Well, yes.
Basically, the SDK way involves actually calling the functions from kernel32.dll and user32.dll, as opposed to using MFC classes which call them for you.
There are lots of threads about getting started with them, a search for CreateWindow will help you enormously :)
