bad performance
Hallo,
I have made a simple program:
one form with one adodc object linked to an access database
with a jet 4.0 ole db provider and a file with 100000 article
records.
This adodc object is linked to a datagrid.
I did not change any property.
When starting my program I have to wait 1/2 a minute before
the grid is coming up.
I use access 5.7 and vb6.0 sp3 and P650 Mhz 32 Mb mem.
Hoping you have good news,
Greetings

Do you get heavy hard drive activity during the wait? Because with 32 MB or RAM, the 100,000 records are probably going into virtual memory.

Get these: Mozilla Opera OpenBSD
I have books for sale: "MCSD in a Nutshell" and "VB Distributed Exam Cram" - PM me for details. Will also trade for a decent ATX Pentium 2 MB/CPU/RAM combo.

If it is on yoy machine, start up the System Monitor. Go to Start / Programs / Accessories / System Tools / System Monitor.
Edit / Add memory manger for free momory, page-ins, page-outs and page faults. This will give you at least some idea of what 32MB is doing for you.

And, if you're smart and running Windows NT , right-click the taskbar, click Task Manager, and go to the processes tab.
